~In a world where male relationships are ignored or demonized--
I go where others refuse to tread.~

Ten years ago, a warrior student named Thaddeus saved young Prince Stephen from certain death. In return, Stephen touched Thaddeus's heart with harp music. Both left an indelible mark on the other's soul that would span time and distance after religious and political upheaval destroyed Thaddeus's world. The bloodshed that followed his life would lead him to become the infamous Marked One--a warrior cursed with a Blood-Rage that ignites when called into battle.

Now, after mysterious dreams lead him back to his homeland, he discovers Prince Stephen is still alive, though dying from a ravaging lung illness that has plagued him all his life. Despite their joy at finding each other again, both soon learn that divine forces have manipulated their reunion ... but to what end?

Two warring pantheons of Gods each have an agenda: The Aggregate and the obscure, subversive Composers--once worshipped by a long-dead and traitorous cult. What are Thaddeus's ties to this cult, and why do these Gods seem so interested in Stephen--enough to ensure that Thaddeus, with his cursed past, becomes his protector?

“Lesson to die by, bastard. Never threaten
a warrior guard’s charge!”
Warrior Guard Thaddeus and his charge, Prince Stephen, both receive the same vision that could lead to a miraculous cure for Stephen’s terminal lung disease. However, on their journey to this cure they and their close friend, Kinarr, fall into a trap laid out by Stephen’s older and power-hungry brother, Prince Megar, and his guard Folon, a rumored disciple of the Goddess Eclipse.
Falsely accused of crimes against the Royal House of Caldys, Stephen, Thaddeus, their few friends, and allies become fugitives, escaping horrors no one should ever experience. While evading capture, Stephen discovers a prophecy linking him to either the destruction of Enreak… or its transformation. Two warring pantheons of Gods want him to live long enough to determine which outcome, but which pantheon can be trusted, and how does a defunct, traitorous cult known as the Revelators play into it?
Despite Thaddeus’s hatred for all Gods, only divine healing can save Stephen. Sometimes, the choice isn’t if you love someone enough to die for them. Sometimes, the choice is if you love someone enough to leave them to their destiny…
…and walk away.
